Detecting power source with the phone off
I'm developing an Android app for Motorola Milestone 2 and I would like to know if turning the phone off *really* means turning off or putting it on a low-energy standby that still listens to some functions.
My problem is as follows: ideally, I need to leave the app running all time, so the phone stays connected to AC. But sometimes the electricity in the place is cut off and when this happens the app keeps running until the battery is over. I'd like somehow to detect when the power comes back and turn the phone back on when this happens.
Is this possible? I've heard that there is an app that turns the phone on when the battery charge reaches a certain point...

Why not just start the app when it boots up?
