Usb_driver is installed, but not found

I downloaded the sdk/extras/google/usb_driver with the help of Android SDK Manager. I'm using Windows 7 Home edition. I was trying to set up the device driver so my Android phone could be recognized.

The problem exists when I tried to update the device driver, but I received a driver "not found" error from the device driver wizard. How's that possible? The usb_driver folder exists on my Windows 7, and I provided the usb_driver folder location where I downloaded it.

The usb_driver I downloaded from the Android SDK Manager would not work. Through more research on the Internet, I downloaded HTC Sync on my Windows 7 since I have a HTC EVO 3D device. HTC Sync comes with a usb driver and it works like a charm.

I had a lot of problems with the USB drivers on Windows 7. I had to delete and reload the drivers a few times before I got it to work...but it gave me a l ot of pain.

Same case here, but what I've been doing is to reattach the USB devices (USB mouse, connectors, flash drives), and then the devices will work again. Is there no permanent fix yet?
