Well anyway im having major problems with my computer, it all first started with my homepage being changed to "a-search.biz", i cant change it or anything. To makes things worse i cant even log on to hotmail properly, i have to resort to logging in then having to retype the url to get into my inbox. And if things didnt get more worse, my mouse is also starting to move by itself. I have tried soooo many virus scans and spyware software, u name it i probably tried it. This is my hijackthis scan:

Hi razzakakbar,

You might want to print these instructions for reference or copy and paste them into notepad and save them on your desktop, as you will be off the internet while using HijackThis.

If you have any questions before starting the fix, please don't hesitate to ask!

You have a coolwebsearch infection, among other things. Please download CWShredder from Here Save it to a convenient location such as your Desktop

Close ALL browser windows or it may not work! Run CWShredder and select "Fix" (do not just Scan). It will automatically remove the infections.

Next...

Logoff your internet connection. Please press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and open Task Manager. End the following process by selecting it and pressing the End Process button and clicking Yes to the confirmation message:

WinAdTools.exe
ipca.exe
WinRatchet.exe

Run HijackThis, click scan, place a checkmark next to the following items. Close all browsers and any other windows or the fix may not work! Click "fix checked". It is OK if some of these items are no longer listed.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://searchcentral.cc/search.php?v=4&aff=3738

"a-search.biz" problem persists!!! :(

Thanks for your all your help so far , I did everything you said in your last post, but im afraid im still getting the "a-search.biz" homepage and im still not being able to view my hotmail account directly (without having to retype the hotmail url) However my mouse has stopped moving by itself and i think my computer has got much faster than it was before .

both the "stinger" and the "housecall" didnt pick up any major viruses either, but the "CWShredder" did pick up quite a lot of stuff and deleted it.

This is my latest Hijackthis log:

You did great! That file could have gone either way.... but it's OK.

I see no evidence of a-search.biz in your log. Please reboot your computer > open Internet Explorer > browse to a few web pages of your choice > post a fresh HijackThis log.

I rebooted my computer, and as soon as i restarted, my software "spyware guard" detected that my internet settings are being changed and asked whether i wanted my original settings back, however as soon as i said yes, it would keep popping up with the same window saying that the settings have been changed again .

Well i started my IE and although the website looks the same its url now says: "http://xysearch.biz/?wmid=3305", i visited 5 random websites. and this is my new hijackthis log:

RAZ,

Download Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition version 1.05 from:

http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

Run Adaware, click the "Check for Updates now" link. Install the latest reference file

Perform a "Full system scan" with Adaware. Remove all checked items.

Then...

Download, install and UPDATE Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3. Scan and fix all items checked in RED.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Tom

Tom

I downloaded and scanned both adaware and spybot, but unfortunately im still getting the "http://xysearch.biz/?wmid=3305" webpage and i still cant access my hotmail inbox (without having to retype the hotmail url) . I even tried running them with my internet connection off as well as trying to scan them in safe mode.
Adaware did however find almost 400 infected items !!!!! Which are all deleted now , but sadly my problem still persists . This is my latest hijackthis log:

This is difficult to fix, as you are not completely getting reinfected as Spywareguard is doing it's job.

Click on Start > Run, and type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press the OK button.

You will now see the services window with a listing of all your services. Scroll through the services and see if you have a service with the following name:

Plug and Play svc service

I wasnt able to find "Plug and Play svc", but there was a service with the name: "Plug and Play".
I dont know much about hijackthis or anything but just wanted to know if the following are important, because these were NOT present in my first hijackthis scans:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=Userinit.exe,

Also i dont really mind having to be stuck with the "a-search.biz" homepage, but i am much more worried about not being able to access my hotmail or even my gmail inboxes. It says "done" at the bottom, but the screen remains blank, and for hotmail i have to resort to retyping "www.hotmail.com" in the address bar, and for gmail i cant access the inbox at all .

Just thought i should also tell u, the following two keep coming up in my ADAWARE SCANS - even after I have deleted them many times (both in safe mode and without the internet connection):

1st one:

Vendor: possible browser hijack attempt
Type: Regkey
Category: Vulnerability
Object: HKEY_CURRENT_USER:Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\aifind.info\

2nd one:

Vendor: possible browser hijack attempt
Type: RegValue
Category: Vulnerability
Object: HKEY_CURRENT_USER:Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\aifind.info "*"

Thank you for your help so far,

RAZ

That's great, Plug and Play is a valid service

Could be part of your hijacking.
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=Userinit.exe will sometimes have _filename_ appended to it. That would give us something to work with, but your log doesn't show that. The F2 entry ins't normally fixed when it doesn't have a filename associated with it.
