Hey teacher4u!

Glad to hear your computer is doing better. Eventhough Spybot and Adaware are great at removing crapware, I suggest you run HijackThis and check for the entries I suggested you remove! You may be heading for reinfection if you dont!

Yes, please post your other computer's log in a new thread. It makes things much easier to keep track of.

Tom

Hi Katya!

Computer doctor eh? Well, I wish I could make as much as my doctor makes

Please move HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as the program needs a place to make backups of what it fixes, just in case we need them in the future.

Next place your entire log (inckuding the header) in to a new thread.

Thanks
Tom

Katya's Post

Katya,You might get more attention if you posted it as a new thread! On the other hand,Tom is super helpful and he may be following my thread.one thing that couldn't hurt is if you have SpyBot and AdAware installed ,run them immediately after you start your pc (reboot!). They seem to be much more powerful before you get started on the net! That's probably how I got rid of my browser hijacker! You may have to run them a few times. I found divide and conquer seems to work. If AdAware won't remove everything(i.e.won't run in the remove option with everything checked) ,it sometimes will remove a few items at a time! By the way ,did you copy yopur problem into google and run a search on it?
Good luck ,teacher4u

Thumbs up Hi Tom!

Tom ,I was typing while you were! I posted a note for Katya and saw your just entered post. I'll go ahead and post my daughter's problem on a new thread and while I'm working on hers I'll try to finish mine as per your instructions. By the way, when I started on her pc last night she had 484 items in adaware, most of which didn't wanna get out! Using the procedure above I got it down to 176 before I went to bed! Her Browser start page had been hijacked by LOP. I researched on the net.Very tenacious problem! Here's how to remove it! It's a program called Logical Online Portal(LOP) .Simply go to Start menu/control panel/add/remove programs and look for the above item(Logical Online Portal). When you klik on uninstall, it comes back with some gibberish looking 7 digit number it asks you to copy and insert, (checking to make sure you're really a person!). Do that and ,"Voila!",bye-bye LOP! A great oldie by the Everly Brothers,LOL!

LOP has been a hard one to get rid of at times. Thanks for the tip!

spybot

Hey Tom and Teacher,

I ran the shredder and I got my regular homepage back! I did run Spyware but it keeps posting the same updates to download. Why is that?

I don't have AdWare? Do I need it as well as Spybot?

Also I still get the winzip message when I log on. Any idea how to get rid of that?

Here is my new log. How does it look to you Tom? Is there anything I should remove?

Thank you very much to both of you

Katya! Please move you log into a new thread!

Katya! Please move you log into a new thread! It makes things quite confusing when two people's logs are in the same thread, I'm sure we can help you, but please start a new thread. There is a button at the top of this forum that says "New Thread".

Thanks!
Tom

Hello all. I'm just another victim. I've read all the postings on here (some of them at least the ones that seem to have the same problem as I do). Basically My homepage keeps defaulting to the above page also and I have no clue how to fix it. Is there a program I can download that would take care of it ( I am kind of computer illiterate). If you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
