can not uninstall Symantec Antivirus
When I try to uninstall Symantec Antivirus from this computer,
it prompts me for the uninstall password. The problem is that its
SAV parent server is now permanently offline, and it looks like it
can not verify the uninstall password. How can I uninstall SAV when the uninstallation is password protected, and the parent server is no longer available..?

I don't know about the server NAV version, there are detailed instructions for manually removing a single-user NAV found in the Symantec knowledge base.

Norton's is usually a very hard program to uninstall...there are two basic ways of doing it. there is the barbaric deleting all files under the symantec folder in the program files or you can boot into safe mode and uninstall it that way. I did a stint as a Dell Tech support for a bit *pauses for the laughter to die down* but that was the only two ways I have found to uninstall symantec products of most kinds and versions......

if all else fails
(URL address blocked: See forum rules)
this is the link for the norton removal tool its supposed to be used for failed installations and crap like that but if you remove the folder for norton then run this tool it should work fine
also if it still pops up on start up go to your start menu then press run type in msconfig then go to services check the hide windows services and look for something called symantec or norton or some other crap like then uncheck it then go to start up and look for norton or symantec again and uncheck it then press ok
(little tip you dont need most of the start up programs so if you want to boost your performance a little you might want to disable a few more, it just makes windows boot faster when you start it up)

I think you are referring to the Norton Removal Tool. You will have tried to post the URL when you had less than 5 posts which is why the message appeared.

try everything and you will find the solution to your problem!
I'm having the same problem at my company. I can't uninstall because the previous sys admin sucked with documentation. I will try this password. If it works...KUDOS to you!!

If it doesn't, try using the Norton Removal Tool as posted above.

The password didn't work so I had to manually uninstall it by making a billion changes to the registry. It sucked but it worked and I was able to get it off the system.
