Cannot browse the web, but can email and use yahoomessenger
Out of the blue microsoft messenger was loaded on my machine and everytime I end the process another one starts. It is always offline and when I go to uninstall msmessenger cannot find it.
I have run norton and found a lot of adware stuff, but I cannot delete it. As the title said I cannot browse the web, but othes can get to my home page even though I cannot. I can use yahoomessenger just fine. What file tells the computer what to start when it boots? How do I get to it and how do I edit out what I dont' want. Als, Norton did not find any virus's, but I know I got some crap somewhere. Have the latest downloads from Norton and MS. I am running XP Pro service pack 1. How can I find out exactly what is going on and how to fix it? I don't want to reformat hard drive and reinstall 6-8 hours worth of programs on my workstation. |

Use HijackThis or Adware: It is said
Otherwise delete these here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / run or RunOnce or RunServices Some virus disguise msnmsgr.exe, but if Norton doesn't warn, something other causes may be. Go to Spywareforum for more information. If these are all removed and weird things may remain. the clean installation is recommended. |

If you run msconfig from the Run dialog box, you can change what is run when the computer boots by looking in the Startup tab. |
