Computer freezing, then either unfreezes or shuts down
Hi, I don't know what is happening but my computer has recently started randomly making a sound like the power is low (the sound it makes just before it switches off when shut down normally), this causes the computer to freeze for up to about a minute and then it will either switch off or unfreeze again. It tends to happen in the first 1 hour of using the computer and becomes less frequent the longer i use it. Does anyone know what is causing this? I don't know if its needed, but here is a HJT log:

the problem is not only your hardware. the following are known baddies.C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\3cmlink.exe C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccess.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [salm] c:\temp\salm.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [panct] c:\winnt\panct.exe C:\WINNT\system32\MSTask.exe (should be a .dll ??) C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\3cshtdwn.exe these look dodgy to me but i'll have to confirm: C:\WINNT\System32\DRIVERS\CDANTSRV.EXE O12 - Plugin for .bcf: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins\NPBelv32.dll O12 - Plugin for .mid: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\npqtplugin.dll O12 - Plugin for .mov: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\npqtplugin.dll O12 - Plugin for .png: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\npqtplugin3.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe these ones are OK O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Zone Labs Client] "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" [this is for your zone alarm firewall.] O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe [this is a legitimate part of jre ] please post a fresh log like TomMyboy suggested. the chances are you still have the infections

Hi Mr Spoon,
If you have not already fixed the suggested items, please wait. C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\3cmlink.exe Is your 3Com WinModem driver! Don't fix this!!! Please update HijackThis, you are using an outdated version. The new version does a better job of detecting malware: Open HijackThis, click Config > Misc Tools > Check for Update online Or download a copy of version 1.99.1 at: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html If you downloaded the newer version, please delete the older version you are using now. Post a fresh log with this new version. Tom |
