Computer Sending Emails By Itself

Well today out of no where when I was working on one of my programming projects, I experienced a large amount of email protection scanning from Norton anti virus popping up without sending any emails. The weird thing is I don't have any email client open. Now when I disable networking it stops but once I reactivate the internet connection, it goes back to sending emails. I never seen this before.

I used the sticky from the forum to use the various tools to check for adware, spyware, malware ect... My run down of programs I used so far are Norton Antivirus corporate edition, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Mcafee stinger, and I even uninstalled Java to see if that would do anything. Nothing has worked for me so I'm wondering if any of you have some insight for me.

I can only guess what is causing this. Here are my two suggestions.

1) Check your DNS for your computer. It may of been hijacked/changed by a Trojan. If it has been changed, all your traffic is being routed through a server that has captured your login details for banks, forums, etc. If it has been changed, change it to OpenDNS or Google DNS.

2) You have a virus. I would recommend running a MalwareBytes scan. It is much better then HiJack this.

You have to install ativirus software with mailware protections and scan you computer.

I finally fixed this annoying problem. It turns out it was malware that installed itself as a hidden driver of all things. I went through all the usual programs: Spybot, AVG, Norton, Mcafee, CCleaner, Malwarebytes and even checked DNS as advised ect...found nothing. Then I read somewhere to use Hitman Pro 3.5. After running this program, it found the file and removed it on reboot.
