Angry Similar problem, new computer

Hello,

Just a few weeks out of the box, our HP has contracted a virus of some sort, similar to the above description, most likely the result of a certain youthful family member visiting adult sites. I have done what I know--NAV complete scan, Spybot, and AdAware--all clean. However, after about 5 minutes of seemingly normal operation, all freezes and CPU is 100%; must re-start. I know I saw something about Coolweb in one of the prior fixes (Spybot?); I just scanned through the Coolweb fix link above and was all clean. I also just now did an "End process" of "Backweb-137903.exe", which I had. However, if any of you knowledgeable folks out there have the time, here is my Hijack file:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2

P.s.

Also, the above Hijack file was edited to be under 10,000 characters--some recognized good files (Symantec, etc.) were removed from the list....thanks

Update--any suggestions

Hi,

I've determined that an additional session of IEXPLORE.EXE is being created in background somewhere and is hogging CPU up to 100. It appears to have high I/O Read Bytes but low Write Bytes, if that means anything. I "End Process" through Task Mananger, and it goes away for some minutes, then reappears. In doing a file search, I had 13 files named IEXPLORE with various extensions, and have deleted all but the main .EXE and two Fetches, which I understand are OK.

In Task Manager, when the problem IEXPLORE appears under "Image Name", besides End Process, is there anything I can do to permanently wipe it out, or at least identify where the thing is coming from and whack it from there??? Thanks.....

If anyone could help--I am going nuts trying to kill this CPU 100% problem. I have tried: Norton, spybot, adaware, cw shredder, dsostop, a2, noadware, fixkorgo, trojan remover, probably several others, and have downloaded viRobot but haven't used it yet because it wants me to uninstall Norton, etc. Again, the 100% CPU usage is from IEXPLORE.EXE and occurs randomly but frequently, and we have to End Process every time to keep going. We are so frustrated. We have kept up to date on Windows and Norton updates from day 1, and still have to deal with this. Any suggestions at all will be immensely appreciated; thanks.
