eeakmolj.exe ???????????????????

A co-workers computer started doing this today (please see picture). Basically everytime you click on a shortcut to any application program this error comes up that says it can not locate eeakmolj.exe and to browse to find it. I have done a search for this program and don't find it anywhere. It looks suspicious to me. You can open programs if you go through an already created document or item. For example the Microsoft Word in the start menu won't work, but if you click on a saved document you can get into the program just fine. This is true with Adobe, I.E. and her gradebook program (she is a teacher).

If you click cancel or ok on the error window, the computer restarts. But you can do anything else with it open in the background. Is this a virus? Our Norton picked nothing up and I am in the process of running housecall.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kelley

Did you try looking up the exe file? I'll send you a zipped folder with a bunch of file fixers in them. One of them in there is for fixing shortcut files. What it means by fixes, it restores them back to their default way of working.

Hi Kelley,

You really should post a HijackThis log. It could well be a virus.

Please download HijackThis. Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix.

Run the program, click the button at the top "Do a system scan and save a logfile". Save the log to a convenient place such as C:\HJT Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!
