explorer.exe takes 100% CPU! Please HELP!
Hey. Whenever I open a folder containing avi files, explorer takes up 90-100% of my system resources. It's not a corrupt avi, it's any folder w/ avi's in it. Apparently explorer tries to read the file to create a thumbnail (even if it's not in that view) and gets stuck on a loop that causes it to take all the resources. I've tried a million things and nothing seems to work. I've run out of ideas and can't find any more "solutions" on any webpage...please help, i've been at this for days! Thank you

Hi abstruseoni,
Please enable everything in MSCONFIG. Go to Start > Run > msconfig > click Startup Tab > everything should have a checkmark to the left of it. Please post a fresh HijackThis log. Tom
