Explorer suddenly restarts.
hi,
when i am working, my explorer suddenly restarts. it is as if it got "overloaded with work" kind of a thing. normally this happens when i try to open some file(i normally work with .txt's). on oneMSBi's suggestion, i ran hijackthis. here is the log Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 12:43:47 AM, on 5/16/2005 Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\MULTIM~1\MMKBD.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgcc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgemc.exe C:\Program Files\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgupsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZONELABS\vsmon.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Desktop\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FFFFFEF0-5B30-21D4-945D-000000000000} - C:\PROGRA~1\STARDO~1\SDIEInt.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Multimedir KBD] C:\PROGRA~1\MULTIM~1\MMKBD.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_EMC] C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\avgemc.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Zone Labs Client] "C:\Program Files\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" O8 - Extra context menu item: Download with Star Downloader - C:\Program Files\Star Downloader\sdie.htm O8 - Extra context menu item: E&xport to Microsoft Excel - res://C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\EXCEL.EXE/3000 O8 - Extra context menu item: Enqueue in Star Downloader - C:\Program Files\Star Downloader\sdieenq.htm O8 - Extra context menu item: Leech with Star Downloader - C:\Program Files\Star Downloader\leechie.htm O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file) O9 - Extra button: Run WinHTTrack - {36ECAF82-3300-8F84-092E-AFF36D6C7040} - C:\Program Files\WinHTTrack\WinHTTrackIEBar.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Launch WinHTTrack - {36ECAF82-3300-8F84-092E-AFF36D6C7040} - C:\Program Files\WinHTTrack\WinHTTrackIEBar.dll O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm O9 - Extra button: Yahoo! hello busmaster. i checked over your log and i cant find anything amiss. maybe TomMyboy will spot something i did not. post this problem over at the windows forum, and let the best guys there see if they can help you out. [dont post the log there, just the problem details]
the only possible bad entry i could see was this: O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file) but i dont thinks its anything too bad.

Hi busmaster,
This line in your log: O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file) Is related to Sun Java and appears to have a problem. Do you know if MSJava has been properly removed before installing the Sun Java? Also... You are running without Windows Updates. It's kind of like running with scissors ![]() Tom

[edit] i think i know about the updates : the version and build number ??? [/edit] Last edited by busmaster : May 19th, 2005 at 03:06 PM. |

the 3rd line of the log indicate you do not have any updates installed.
Quote:
i dont think you need to re-install windows for now. I would suggest you un-install both Sun's java and MS java, completely first. then just re-install the sun java. see if the problem persists from then on. Quote:
