having issues connecting to network
i've never had this problem until today.
this computer is on a network, static ip, and sometimes i need to change it to dynamic when hooking up and configuring misc. gear. today when i went to set it back to the static ip, i was no longer able to connect to the network. i finally got rid of TVM about 5 minutes ago, not sure if that was the problem or not. i've had problems before somewhat like this, some bug on the computer was editing the hosts file but when i changed it back it always connected again. now its not, but it still works dynamically through a router (VoIP ata in this situation) i ran hijack this, here is the log, thought maybe something was still in the system that i dont know about that someone would catch and let me know of. thanks Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7 Scan saved at 2:26:17 PM, on 12/3/2004 Platform: Windows 2000 SP4 (WinNT 5.00.2195) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINNT\System32\smss.exe C:\WINNT\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINNT\system32\services.exe C:\WINNT\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere\awhost32.exe C:\WINNT\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\KodakCCS.exe C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\bin\ptssvc.exe C:\WINNT\system32\regsvc.exe C:\WINNT\system32\MSTask.exe C:\WINNT\system32\ScsiAccess.EXE C:\WINNT\System32\snmp.exe C:\WINNT\system32\stisvc.exe C:\WINNT\System32\WBEM\WinMgmt.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\BRMFRSMG.EXE C:\WINNT\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Adaptec\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distillr\AcroTray.exe C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\bin\EasyShare.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\Desktop\HijackThis.exe C:\WINNT\system32\wuauclt.exe R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 67.110.252.14:3128 R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdaptecDirectCD] "C:\Program Files\Adaptec\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe" O4 - Global Startup: Acrobat Assistant.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distillr\AcroTray.exe O4 - Global Startup: Kodak EasyShare software.lnk = C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\bin\EasyShare.exe O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console (HKLM) O9 - Extra button: AIM (HKLM) O9 - Extra button: Related (HKLM) O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links (HKLM) O12 - Plugin for .mp3: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\npqtplugin4.dll O12 - Plugin for .spop: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins\NPDocBox.dll O16 - DPF: {205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540000} (CInstall Class) - http://www.spywarestormer.com/files2/Install.cab O16 - DPF: {5721FA68-5ABD-40A8-81F1-4136691194BF} (Launcher Class) - https://www.play.net/components/activex/AXSAL.ocx O16 - DPF: {9F1C11AA-197B-4942-BA54-47A8489BB47F} (Update Class) - http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/CAB/x86/unicode/iuctl.CAB?37925.4777314815 O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3E4A29E9-0672-45A3-9CBA-E9B5046FB88C}: NameServer = 208.179.51.10,208.179.51.11 |

Hi djbrianc,
Please download the Adware T.V. Media Removal Tool (KB 886590) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en Save it to a convenient place such as a new folder on your desktop. Once downloaded, double-click the file and it will remove the infection. Next... Please update HijackThis, you are using an outdated version: Open HijackThis, click Config > Misc Tools > Check for Update online Or download a copy of version 1.98.2 at: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html Please delete the older version you are using now. Post a fresh log with this new version. Tom
