Hi elnomada,
You might want to print these instructions for reference, as you will be off the internet while using HijackThis. Remove the BlazeFind search bar: First close all browser windows. Now go to your Windows Control Panel in Add/Remove Programs, close the Control Panel window if you can and remove 'IE SearchBar ' from the Add/Remove Programs window as well as 'Windows SA' if its present. This will lead you the the Blazefind homepage. Now go the homepage you wish to set as your own, and click in browser Tools / Internet Options and in the homepage section 'Use current'. Please reboot to make sure all changes are saved and changed properly for all Windows versions. New users: The new Software has a different name. You have to remove 'Internet Explorer SearchBar' in add/remove programs in Windows as well as 'Windows Search Functions' and 'Windows SA'. It will also automatically reset your homepage to your previous one. Then.... You are infected with NewDotNet: To remove newdotnet, use the uninstaller at http://www.newdotnet.com/#remove It requires that a internet connection be active while doing it. Then... You have a coolwebsearch infection, among other things. Please download CWShredder written by Merijn Bellekom from Here Press "Check for Update" and download any new updates available. Close ALL browser windows or it may not work! Unzip it to a convenient location such as your Desktop and select "Fix" (do not just Scan). It will automatically remove the infections. Then.... Logoff your internet connection. Run HijackThis, close all browsers and any other windows, click scan, place a checkmark next to the following items. Click "fix checked". It is OK if some of these items are no longer listed. R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000EF1-34E3-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPZ300.DLL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} - C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\newdotnet6_38.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDUPDATES\WINUPDT.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111111157} - ms-its:mhtml:file://c:\nosuch.mht!http://hard-virgins.com/dl/dmitriy/x.chm::/load.exe O16 - DPF: {10000000-1000-0000-1000-000000000000} - mhtml:file://C:\ARCHIVE.MHT!http://www.008k.com//f//10213/msits.exe O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://public.windupdates.com/get_file.php?bt=ie&p=4b1fb35342aede453d7d92acbf6997559e9e3fe51619010359bb38973e19599c432c83dd5982f6a56b6ce9a6c8b143e5fb 6f71:cc0e6c80b387443bc8a6179139ffb119 This is a resource hog that can be removed safely: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot Then.... Delete the following files: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPZ300.DLL Delete the following folders: C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\ C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDUPDATES\ Reboot normally. Then.... Please update HijackThis, you are using an outdated version: Open HijackThis, click Config > Misc Tools > Check for Update online Or download a copy of version 1.98.2 at: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html Post a fresh log with this new version. Youl log is clean... good work!
These are tools that will help keep you from getting infected again: SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html SpywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method. http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all. http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm#IESPYAD All are very small free programs. Occasionally check for updates. Check for updates for Windows and Internet Explorer every week or so. Download each critical update one by one, rebooting when necessary.. Repeat this until you get the message "no critical updates available" http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Please take a minute to read: So how did I get infected in the first place? http://computercops.biz/postlite7736-.html Tom |
