Cont.

I forgot to ask, Will any of these cause a computer to take around 60 seconds everytime to shut down or restart? This was the first sign of the computer slowing down.
Thank you.

Thread split. It's better to create a new thread rather than replying to an existing one.

Hi RICOUK.

Quote:

Yes, you have suspicious entries in your log that may be virus/trojan related.

You might want to print these instructions for reference or copy and paste them into notepad and save them on your desktop, as you will be off the internet while using HijackThis.

If you have any questions before starting the fix, please don't hesitate to ask!

Logoff your internet connection. Run HijackThis, click scan, place a checkmark next to the following items. Close all browsers and any other windows or the fix may not work! Click "fix checked". It is OK if some of these items are no longer listed.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://localhost/
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

These are resource hogs that can be fixed also:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Next...

Boot into Safe Mode. Reboot your computer, start tapping F8 when it first starts booting, select Safe Mode.

Make sure your computer is configured to show all files and folders.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden Files and Folders heading select Show Hidden Files and Folders.
Uncheck hide extensions for known file types.
Uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Search for and delete the following files:

msl2c.exe
mcishuta.exe

Next....

Go to Start > Run > type "cleanmgr" (without the quotes). > Select the drive to clean up (usually C ) > Place a checkmark next to the following:

Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin
Temporary Files

Then click OK.

Reboot normally.

Next...

Download Stinger. Save it to your Desktop. Double-click it to start it. Make sure all of your drives are listed in the "Directories to scan" box (C:\ D:\ E:\, etc.). Click the Scan Now button and let it remove anything it finds.

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Next...

Perform an onlne virus scan from this site:

Trend Micro Housecall - Again, select all of your drives to be scanned. Please check "Auto clean" before scanning.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If you can, copy and paste the report logs from the scans into your next post.

Post a fresh HijackThis log.

Tom

HiJackThis Log

I followed what you said but the search did not find the files; msl2c.exe or mcishuta.exe.
Both, the Stinger and Housecall found nothing.
Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem of it taking about a minute to shut down. If you have any other ideas it would be good. Thank you.
I am very close to just reinstalling Windows!

Here is the new HiJackThis log.

RICOUK,

Your log is clean.

The items I had you remove were probably virus or trojan related:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [r7sO32T] msl2c.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [aw3ERSfFj] mcishuta.exe

I'd like you to do a couple of trojan scans. Install and perform a full system scan with each of these trial programs:

Trojan Hunter

DiamondCS TDS-3

Sure no problem....

When you get time, boot into Safe Mode, search for and delete these files if they still exist:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MegasearchBarSetup.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TVM_B5_Bundle_15.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WTuninst.exe

Reboot normally and post a fresh HijackThis log.

HiJackThis Log

They were all there so I deleted all of them, does the fact that in safe mode it shuts down in a matter of seconds compared to the minute in normal mean anything? Just a thought. Anyway heres the new log.
