Hijackthis log here... Please Help!
I have PestPatrol and whenever I use it to scan for pests, BearShare always comes up. After attempting to remove it following a scan, the is always an error message "not deleted; insufficient rights". The PestPatrol log states that the location of the key is at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\clsid\{558ec983-bedb-9168-b2de-31dbf0ee543e}
I cannot delete it from the registry without getting an error, either. My computer and internet have slowed way down since the detection of bearshare. I have done some research on bearshare and found out that it is a program, but we have never installed bearshare. We have however installed other p2p programs before such as kazaa and emule. They were deleted before the scans and attempted deletions, however. I have also run scans with Adaware, but it doesn't find anything. The following is my hijackthis log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7 Scan saved at 4:26:00 PM, on 8/22/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTsvcCDA.exe C:\Program Files\Executive Software\DiskeeperServer\DKService.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\BRMFRSMG.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\CtNotify.exe C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\PPMemCheck.exe C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\PPControl.exe C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\CookiePatrol.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\Sharedll\Mediadet.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\devldr32.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Isaac\My Documents\My Downloads\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll - {EC9A30B0-3092-4210-81CD-5571DA9BC5A5} - C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Disc Detector] C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\CtNotify.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTStartup] C:\Program Files\Creative\Splash Screen\CTEaxSpl.EXE /run O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PPMemCheck] C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\PPMemCheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PestPatrol Control Center] C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\PPControl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CookiePatrol] C:\PROGRA~1\PESTPA~1\CookiePatrol.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Zone Labs Client] "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ssdiag] C:\WINDOWS\ssdiag.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dla] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SSC_UserPrompt] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\UsrPrmpt.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIPTA] C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE O8 - Extra context menu item: E&xport to Microsoft Excel - res://C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\EXCEL.EXE/3000 O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console (HKLM) O9 - Extra button: AIM (HKLM) O16 - DPF: ppctlcab - http://www.pestscan.com/scanner/ppctlcab.cab O16 - DPF: {0E5F0222-96B9-11D3-8997-00104BD12D94} (PCPitstop Utility) - http://pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/PCPitStop.CAB O16 - DPF: {2359626E-7524-4F87-B04E-22CD38A0C88C} (ICSScannerLight Class) - http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/cm/ICSCM.cab O16 - DPF: {2FC9A21E-2069-4E47-8235-36318989DB13} (PPSDKActiveXScanner.MainScreen) - http://www.pestscan.com/scanner/axscanner.cab O16 - DPF: {9F1C11AA-197B-4942-BA54-47A8489BB47F} - http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/CAB/x86/unicode/iuctl.CAB?38184.9630902778 O16 - DPF: {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} (Shockwave Flash Object) - http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab |

I agree, Pest Patrol does list the clsid as BearShare. However, none of the running processes listed are present in your log: bsinstallit.exe bearshare.exe bsproinstall.exe You can go through the manual removal process listed here, but you may not find anything. http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/b/bearshare.asp You might want to print these instructions for reference, as you will be off the internet while using HijackThis. Uninstall RelatedLinks.lbbho from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel. Look for entries called "Windows XP Related". Then.... Logoff your internet connection. Run HijackThis, close all browsers and any other windows, place a checkmark next to the following items. Click "fix checked". O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll - {EC9A30B0-3092-4210-81CD-5571DA9BC5A5} - C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll These are resource hogs that are usually not necessary. You can have HijackThis fix these too. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ISAAC\MY DOCUMENTS\MY PROGRAM FILES\QUICKTIME\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE Then.... Boot into Safe Mode. Reboot your computer, start tapping F8 when it first starts booting, select Safe Mode. Make sure your computer is configured to show all files and folders. Click Start. Open My Computer. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden Files and Folders heading select Show Hidden Files and Folders. Uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files (recommended) option. Click Yes to confirm. Click OK. Delete the following files: C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll Reboot normally and post a fresh log. Tom |
