hi kenny.

You seem to have an adware infection called adware.needware. I can also see traces of what i think is a weatherbug infection. To go about fixing it i would reccomend you try out the following steps in order. You may want to print or save these instructions to your computer in a text file.

First get hold of Adaware (a freely available software tool) from this site
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Now install it to your pc, and run it. Fix any infections it finds.

Also get hold of Spybot Search & Destroy from the following location and run it, and fix anything it finds.


Now please reboot into safe mode by pressing the F8 key soon after hearing the first beep. make sure all Internet explorer windows are closed.
Run hijackthis and please place a tick against the following entries and fix them. Do not be alarmed if some of the entries are not listed



You have an entry for Bugmenot.

I do not know what this is. If it is not something you know and use, i would strongly suggest you fix it as well.

Now make sure you have enabled the showing of hidden files and folders on your system by performing the following steps


Do not be alarmed if the following instructions yeild messages that say the files cannot be found or do not exist.

Open the run prompt from the start menu, and type the following command without the quotes
"regsvr32 /u WinStat11.dll"

Now please navigate to the following files and delete them.
C:\WINDOWS\ptcore.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat11.dll

do a search for this file and delete it, if you have not installed it.
dpnromon.exe

Is this something you have chosen to use ? DO NOT CLICK IT.
C:\Program Files\bugmenot.htm
if it is not something you use, please delete it.

Please reboot into normal mode after this, and scan again with hijackthis. Then post a fresh log.

i think you shoudl delete this file
C:\Program Files\bugmenot.htm
and fix the corresponding entry in the log if you dont use this.


Besides this your log looks clean. Keep checking this thread over the next few days to see if others have found entries i have missed.

You really should get hold of an Antivirus software and a firewall.
AVG is a really good free antivirus software, and ZoneAlarm is one of the best freely available firewalls. Install both and keep them updated to help keep your computer clean.

Keep your windows and IE updated with the latest security patches and fixes.

And try switching to an alternative browser like Firefox. Its is much more secure as compared to IE and 80% of all adware and spyware are tailored attacks for IE.

bugmenot is a browser program, You can enter your account name and password on it, and anyone who uses bugmenot can access it, say you wanna check out a website but don't wanna sign up for it with your own stuff you use bugmenot and it will search for that website, if someone has entered their info in for that site you can use it., that's all that does.. lol

Also I have Zonealarm, and i've used firefox before but i've found SOOO many bugs in it before it get's anoying so I guess I could give it another try.

ohh ok.. live and learn.. so i now know about bugmenot. it seems like a security risk to users though.

As for Firefox, i'm happy to report that i have never had problems with it. The latest versions seem absolutely bugfree. Download the latest version and let me know how you fare... a browser is afterall a personal choice so go with what makes you happy
