Exclamation Houston I have a BIF

Hi,

I ran an application that sent an email without my permission - it went over Norton and the Sygate Firewall. How can I know what was it content? Isn't the information of sent emails saved somewhere in Windows XP?

Please, answer as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Kepler

If the program sent the email itself (ie it didn't send it through Outlook Express, Outlook etc) then there's no where you can find the email content I don't think (unless this program also keeps copies of sent mail). Perhaps you could send the message again to your address to check the content.

Some viruses and trojan horses have a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) engine to propagate via email.

Please download HijackThis. Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix.

Run the program, click the button at the top "Do a system scan and save a logfile". Save the log to a convenient place such as C:\HJT Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!
