Unhappy I'm getting desperate... sm1 please help me?

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as everybody around here, i.e. browser being hijacked. I haven't found ANY solution whatsoever to the problem, and already tried a lot...
I'm using Norton Antivirus and Firewall, Spysweeper, Adaware, HijackThis, CWShredder, Bazooka, Spybot, and to monitor files and registry changes Filmon and Regmon. On top of that I'm also using Wintasks to see whether I can spot a process which should'nt be there...
I removed JVM, as CWShredder said, removed dll-file rendered in source code of the 'about:blank' page, scanned and fixed, yet every time, this variant CWS.Searchx comes back, which leads me to believe that the program autostarts with another program when I turn on my computer...
Can someone please help me?? I'm getting very desperate here...
Here is my cleaned log from HijackThis:

It appears you have a trojan in your system. Please download the trial version of Trojan Hunter and perform a full system scan:

Trojan Hunter
http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/

If you have no results you can perform an online scan at:

Trend Micro Housecall
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log.

is this ... freedom again? :-)

hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply!
Funny you should mention Trojan Hunter, a couple of hours ago, before I read your comment, I downloaded TrojanHunter, in a final effort to get rid of this CWS pest, and what do you know? It detected a trojan like you said, svchost.exe.exe and renamed it, and that was about 6 hours ago, since then I've had no more homepage redirecting...
could this be the solution? heaven if it is :-)
This is my log from HijackThis, just minutes ago:

Yes, your getting there!

Logoff your internet connection. Close all browsers and other windows except HijackThis. Run HijackThis, place a checkmark next to the following items. Click "fix checked".

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iestart] C:\explorer.exe

Reboot and post a fresh log.

These are tools that will help heep you from getting infected again:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

SpywareGuard is an excellent companion to SpywareBlaster: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm#IESPYAD

All are very small free programs. Occasionally check for updates.

Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.

Check for updates for Windows and Internet Explorer every week or so. Download each critical update one by one, rebooting when necessary.. Repeat this until you get the message "no critical updates available"

maybe...

Ok Tom, here it is:

after I downloaded and executed TrojanHunter, the trojan was found and identified as svchost.exe.exe, and I honestly thought I had gotten rid of it.
Now, while I was away this afternoon on the Tour de France, my dad put on my computer and what do you know, yup 'about:blank' all over again. TrojanHunter just found two ports being open, or one, i wasn't there when the scan was done.
However, now, I turned on my computer, changed the default internet page again, scanned with Adaware (found nothing), CWShredder (found nothing), and the rest of the programs also found nothing, including Hijackthis (post follows)

After that, I did like you said, i.e. removed the entry called explorer in iestart, rebooted, then adjusted activeX settings and downloaded the anti spywareprogs that you suggested.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed... again.

Could you just look at my HijackThis log?
Thanks!
