Hey,

Have you run a scan disk?

Also run trojan hunter, and AVG. and post a fresh HJT log after system restart.

Hi,

how long does your laptop take before it turns off, is it always the same or does it vary. Have you tried booting into safemode & see if it turns itself off there as well?

If you suspect malware,

Did you update AVG,adaware and spybot before scanning. Did you run full system scans.

Also have a look at ewido, its an excellent spyware remover.

After all the other scans run an online scan from Pandasoft

After the scans (pandasoft, trojan hunter & eqido) post a new HJT log here.

Run the Ewido & pandsoft scans to be on the safeside.

It doesnt really sound like malware, try scandisk as suggested & run a "sfc /scannow". The sfc is a system file checker to make sure all your system files are not corrupt. You will need your XP cd when running it. If you check your event logs is there anything that looks relevant?

I would try it in safemode as well just to see.

What do you mean GIPO? what found gui.exe & did it not give you an option of deleteing/quartining it?

Did you use scandisk & SFC & if so what were the results? Have you tried booting into safemode & leaving the machine to see if the same thing happens there?
