Hello,
I am facing an annoying problem 3 days now. In absolutely ANY page I visit, in any part of any text, whether the website is fine or not, links appear, sometimes as parts of a word, sometimes as a full word. For example, the word "emoticon" appears in ALL websites I visit as emoticon , where the underlined part is green. Placing the cursor on that part, the status bar of IE at the bottom left indicates "sponsored link"! Tried almost everything. Run full scans with Ad-Aware SE, Spyware Doctor and even Norton Antivirus 2005, all properly updated, evrything else disappears except the green links! Manually removed some from the registry, still those green links are there. An they only appear on my PC! Tried another PC at the same page and none of those words appear in that other PC. Its really getting on my nerves. Went to Symantec, tried google, there is nothing that mirrors my case. The most similar described files or registry entries that I dont have on my PC. Trying to see if anybody else faced or faces the same problem. If there is somebody, well, do you know what we are dealing with here? At least is there a name for it? I dont know what to think for the damn progs that search for spyware. Do they find it but are unable to remove it or dont they find it at all? Some tips : Had a stupid bar that self-installed below the address bar in IE(which also created 5-6 shortcuts on my desktop), removed it successfully about 50 days ago. Found out I had begin2search, iwantsearch, mywebsearch adwares, all removed. PC perfectly clean now, errrr almost I should say, this problem insists. And imagine I rarely visit websites! Using internet mostly to exchange data. Received absolutely no suspicious email. Anyone with an answer? Hey, thanks in advance for whoever comes up with an answer on this! D. |

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.
Download HijackThis from: HijackThis Download Site Save this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button. Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Save Log button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy. Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post. Someone will reply to you after reading this post. DO NOT fix any entries unless you understand what you are doing. To see a tutorial with screenshots on using HijackThis you can click on the link below: How to use HijackThis to remove Browser Hijackers, Malware, & Spyware
