MS Front-Page and boot issues

Hi, I was advised to post here when I asked this on Windows forum. I have WinXP Professional.
I have SpyBot and Adaware that you mention in the "sticky".
Recently, every time I am trying to connect to the intenet, MS front page wants to install and then bails out because it cannot find necessary files (error message 1706, I think). Also the same happens when some ad tries to pop up.

And to make things worse, it could not boot for some reason:
booting from ATAPI CD-ROM, failed, insert system disk and press enter. I thought that my boot sector was gone.
After couple of days I booted it again and it booted fine but the front page is still doing its thing.

What is going on with my PC? I regularly run SpyBot and Adaware. I do not have much background in either virus handling or OS's.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I tried downloading HijackThis and it does not unzip... At first though Adaware detected it as a virus! and deleted it.

Let's have you scan with HijackThis again and select the following items to be fixed:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id=

O2 - BHO: ZServObj Class - {00000000-C1EC-0345-6EC2-4D0300000000} - C:\WINDOWS\ZServ.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A78860C8-EE1A-46DF-A97F-E3E6D433E80B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\a0ibu.dll
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [farmmext] C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe

O18 - Protocol: ms-help - {314111C7-A502-11D2-BBCA-00C04F8EC294} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Help\hxds.dll

Next, boot into Safe Mode (F8 while you're rebooting before the Windows XP logo shows up) and search for and delete the following items:

C:\WINDOWS\ZServ.dll
C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\a0ibu.dll
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.exe

Make sure they're COMPLETELY gone. While still in Safe Mode go to Start > Run > REGEDIT and press CTRL + F and search for these files as well. You can do F3 to resume the search instead of CTRL + F every time. Delete any and ALL entries with those names.

Once completed, reboot normally into Windows XP and rescan with HijackThis and post the fresh new log!

I have done everything you suggested. One thing I noticed is that file "a0ibu" was not only in C:\WINDOWS but somewhere else also (I saw that when I was doing registry edit). Should I have deleted it from there as well? I think it was somewhere in \DOC~ something... And Front-Page still wants to install itself.

Here is my new hijack log:

Here's a couple more to scan & fix with HJT:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A78860C8-EE1A-46DF-A97F-E3E6D433E80B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\a0ibu.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [d2ve2pf.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\d2ve2pf.exe /k
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [d2ve2pf.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\d2ve2pf.exe /k
O16 - DPF: {90C9629E-CD32-11D3-BBFB-00105A1F0D68} (InstallShield International Setup Player) - http://www.installengine.com/engine/isetup.cab

Reboot into Safe Mode and delete:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\a0ibu.dll

NOTE: If you find this file any where else, delete it from there as well.

Reboot normally, scan with HijackThis and post a new log. Also let me know what happens with Front Page.
