Need help desperately with SVCHOST - Virus??

My computer is running 5 lots of 'svchost' and one 'spooolsv' and I am aware these can be associated with viruses.

Of course, the computer has these processes running naturally, but not 5?

My computer is running EXTREMELY SLOW , but CPU usage is normal when idle. Each 'svchost' using up a lot of memory.

I have run both Bull Guard Virus Checker and AVG and no viruses have been found.

When I search files for 'svchost' they all appear but when deleted they come. I can shut them down in Task Manager, but sometimes the RPC shutdown starts.

How can I make my computer go back to normal?

ANY help would be massively appreciated.

Laura

that are not virus some windows xp system files and they r required for the OS functioning.
If your system is loading slow that does not mean its a virus, as there are several reason you have not defragmented your files for long or the less space in the drive where you have installed your OS and sevral other reasons
Update your AVG Antivirus and then scan your pc fully

Kunal

Hi Laura,

kunalsethi is right, most of those can be legit Windows processes. Just to be sure, please post a hijackthis log.

Download HijackThis. Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix. Run the program, press Scan, after a brief pause... press Save log. Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!
