nodepad.exe

I've a problem. My notepad doesn't function anymore and I can't a Site to download it. Can you help me PLEASE!!

Hi fist007,

To get notepad back follow the instructions below. Many times access to notepad is removed by virus', spyware, etc. Feel free to post a HijackThis log:

Download HijackThis (link below). Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix. Run the program, press Scan, after a brief pause press Save log. Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!

To restore notepad:

First: "unhide" hidden files and folders:
Launch My Computer from the Desktop Icon.
Select View, Details.
Select the Folders button.
Select Tools, Folder Options. Then select the View Tab. Select the Show hidden files and folders radio button is selected
and that the Hide file extensions for known file types check box is unchecked. Once this is done, select Apply and then
Like Current Folder (located near the top of the Folder Options box). Then select OK.

Then navigate to C:\WINNT\System32\dllcache and copy notepad.exe to C:\WINNT\System32 and C:\WINNT
