Old problems die hard

Hi Tom,

New thread as promised! A few things... my computer isnt doing too much wrong BUT...

I got a virus a while ago, it was a really bad one and burnt out one of my harddrives. I switched to the other hard drive I have and installed everything i could find such as spybot search and destroy, blaster adaware etc.

I still had the about:blank virus, so I downloaded a program that seemed to get rid of it. I wonder whether it has fully gone though seeing some of these threads.

The only other issue is when I shut down my computer, it doesnt shut down through the normal process, it says there is a fatal error. So I normally just turn the power straight off. This isnt really a problem, just that then I have to go through scandisk every time I start up again. I assume this is from the virus which deleted .dll files?

I haven't got adaware anymore as it just crashes every time i used it.

So you see, no new big problems, just old ones that are niggly but not too bad, but seeing as you did such a good job with my girlfriends computer I thought Id see what you could do with mine!

Here is my latest Hijack this log...

I know Tom gets quite busy sometimes so lemme see if I can help out a bit.

Run HJT and put a check mark next to the following items:

O2 - BHO: ICOO Loader BHO - {B9D90B27-AD4A-413a-88CB-3E6DDC10DC2D} - C:\WINDOWS\MSOPT.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: sr - {FC2593E3-3E5A-410F-AF3D-82613CCE58E5} - C:\WINDOWS\SR.DLL
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8085E374-ACBB-42F9-873F-49EC7E244F97} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PIIOXO.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7B55BB05-0B4D-44fd-81A6-B136188F5DEB} - C:\WINDOWS\QUESTMOD.DLL
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O18 - Protocol: icoo - {4A8DADD4-5A25-4D41-8599-CB7458766220} - C:\WINDOWS\MSOPT.DLL (file missing)

That SR.DLL has been identified as a CoolWebSearch variant. You'll want to get CWShredder from InterMute. When you're going to run it, make sure to reboot your computer and boot into Safe Mode (F8 before Windows loads, while that white bar goes across the screen) and run it.

After you've done that, reboot into Windows normally, run HJT and post a new log.
