Similar problem

res://levpn.dll/index.html#37049 comes up as my home page each time I start up IE. I've changed the homepage to the one I want and it keeps changing back. I've tried Hijack This, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, CWShredder and a Google search for "res://levpn.dll/index.html#37049" and don't find a match for the "levpn.dll" part. Obviously I'm missing something - but what? I'm somewhat new at this and you, Tom, seem to know what you're talking about. Can you tell me where I'm going wrong (in 'English')? thanks

I see HijackThis is running on your Desktop. Please open My Computer > double-click your C:\ drive > File > New > Folder > name it HJT and put the program (HijackThis) into that folder.

Please rescan with HijackThis and post an updated log. Some items have probably changed since the work you have done recently (the virus removal, etc).

Tom

Thread split. It's easier if you keep it to just one problem per thread. Otherwise it can get confusing.

Sorry...This is my first time. I understand that. However, I was looking on the website to try to figure out how to start a new thread and ask a new question, but wasn't able to. How do I do that? Thanks

Well, when you're on the forum index there is a link on the left, below the header and the title Antivirus Protection where it says New Thread. You click that to create a new thread. But you need not do that now, since I've created a new thread for you.

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.

Download HijackThis from:

HijackThis Download Site #1

or

HijackThis Download Site #2

Save this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button.

Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Save Log button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy.

Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post.

Someone will reply to you after reading this post. DO NOT fix any entries unless you understand what you are doing.

To see a tutorial with screenshots on using HijackThis you can click on the link below:
