res://mshp.dll/index.html#37049 HELP!
Hey evryone!
I'm brand new on here and I got this problem where I can't set my home page to what I want anymore cause it just returns to: res://mshp.dll/index.html#37049. I've seen in other threads that I'm not alone when it comes to having this problem which I've had for about half a year now. Just recently became aware of the spyware threat so go figure. I got Spybot, and I'm getting Ad-aware and Hijack this as soon as I'm done writing this thread. I know there are other threads about this but it seems like whoever was helping the others out though it was best to have it in separate threads. All/Any help about this and tips about how I can make my computer more secure is sincerely welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

And a firewall. A/V is not enough.

My bad - knew there was a #3 that I was missing. Yes, a firewall... I personally use ZoneLabs' ZoneAlarm, but there are other soft and hardware-based firewalls which are just as good or better out there. |

Allright, Thanks guys. I actually got Zonealarm, but off course I got it after the problem started. I found this thread on another forum that had worked for someone else and I have been working on it for a while now, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm supposedly infected by coolwebsearch or something like that. If I find who's behind that name I'm gonna sue them.

Hey Tordis,
Download HijackThis (link below). Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix. Run the program, press Scan, press Save log. Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed! Tom

Hey!
I've actually got this other guy working on it with me on these other forums, but if he can't help me out I'll give you a shout, thanx a bunch, man. I installed hijackthis in my folder like this: C ocuments and settings/..../...../Hijackthis(folder)/Hijackthis (there are backups in here). That'll work fine right? |

Yes, HJT is in a good place.
Hope things work out well for you, Tom |
