Hi tomluec,

You might want to print these instructions for reference or copy and paste them into notepad and save them on your desktop, as you will be off the internet while using HijackThis.

If you have any questions before starting the fix, please don't hesitate to ask!

You have Viewpoint Media Player installed. It is considered Spyware and it is suggested that you remove it.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and remove Viewpoint Media Player

Also...

P2P Networking is a totally useless Kazaa add-on, and it's been reported to be responsible for serious system slowdowns.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

Uninstall P2P networking. If asked whether you also want to remove Altnet components, say 'Yes'.

Next...

Logoff your internet connection. Please press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and open Task Manager. End the following process by selecting it and pressing the End Process button and clicking Yes to the confirmation message:

ViewMgr.exe
P2P Networking.exe

Run HijackThis, click scan, place a checkmark next to the following items. Close all browsers and any other windows or the fix may not work! Click "fix checked". It is OK if some of these items are no longer listed.

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [helper.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\3721\helper.dll,Rundll32
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF} (Web P2P Installer) -

These are resource hogs that can be safely fixed:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Next...

Boot into Safe Mode. Reboot your computer, start tapping F8 when it first starts booting, select Safe Mode.

Make sure your computer is configured to show all files and folders.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden Files and Folders heading select Show Hidden Files and Folders.
Uncheck hide extensions for known file types.
Uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Search for and delete the following folders:

C:\PROGRAM fILES\3721 < delete the entire 3721 folder
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager < delete the entire Viewpoint Manager folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking < the entire P2P Networking folder

Next....

Go to Start > Run > type "cleanmgr" (without the quotes). > Select the drive to clean up (usually C ) > Place a checkmark next to the following:

Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin
Temporary Files

Then click OK.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Reboot normally.

You seem to have two antivirus programs running: McAfee and Norton. They will cause conflicts and it is best to uninstall one of them.

Please post a fresh HijackThis log.

Tom
