Similar problem but with a twist
I have the same problem as Brian with my desktop hijacked. The only problem I have is that when I right mouse button click on the desktop and then click on property, I was thrown out back into my original wall paper with all desktop icons AND the TASKBAR both disabled!! So I had to reboot to recover.

If I click on the task bar and select "Properties" I will see the properties window flash and then disappear!!

I went to control panel and select "Display" and try to disable the Active Desktop webpage. But there, I could not find the "Web" Tab!!

A very insidious payware!

Ontop of all this, I still have random popup IE windows. And my Home page was consistently set to a website I don;t know of which I can NOT set it back to my default website I like.

Please help!!
