Spydeleter.com hijack

I have two machines sharing an adsl connection via a router. The main machine which I use never has any issues with spyware or trojans etc.

The other machine started having problems last week. My nephew did some school work on there, after he went home I checked the machine where the problems began.

This PC is a spare, and doesn`t have much on it. OS is windows 98, plus Grisoft free AV.

Everytime the browser IE6 was opened, it would redirect to somewhere else, windows would start openinng up everywhere and eventually the PC would freeze up.

After rebooting the machine, the desktop was full of icons, most directing to spydeleter.com others were executable files.

I decided to fdisk and format the HDD (machine only has one) and re-install windows 98. I updated all the patches from microsoft and installed the Grisoft AV. Well after a day of usage, my girlfriend told me those things have come back, and keep crashing the machine!

I don`t know much about spyware and trojans, but regularly scan my own machine with Adaware and Spybot. I installed both of those on the problem machine but neither can stop this problem.

I saved the desktop as an image, excuse the wallpaper, it`s not mine!!

Hi britbob,

Please feel free to post a HijackThis log.

Download HijackThis (link below). Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix. Run the program, press Scan, after a brief pause... press Save log. Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!

Tom
