Question Startpage.6.BF

My (FreeVersion) AVG comes up with the warning that it has detected the trojan horse "Startpage.6.BF" in C:\System Volume Information and that I should run the AVG Scan to find and eliminate it.
The AVG Scan however does NOT find this virus!
Even though my System Restore is turned off.
Nor does "show all hidden files and folders" show up the System Volume Information folder in the C-root.
Should be grateful for any suggestions of how to get rid of this parasite.

Here's the logfile of Highjackthis:
And many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi hpbo,

Download HijackThis. Make sure you install HijackThis to a permanent folder such as C:\HJT as it creates backups of what we will fix. Run the program, press Scan, after a brief pause... press Save log. Notepad will open, copy and paste the entire log into your post. Do not fix anything yet, most of what's in the log is needed!

Hi hpbo,

Your log is clean except for the worldusa.com startpage, which is commonly related to this type of trojan.

Let's start here:

Download Stinger. Save it to your Desktop. Double-click it to start it. Make sure all of your drives are listed in the "Directories to scan" box (C:\ D:\ E:\, etc.). Click the Scan Now button and let it remove anything it finds.

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Next...

Perform an onlne virus scan from this site:

Trend Micro Housecall - Again, select all of your drives to be scanned. Please check "Auto clean" before scanning.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If you can, copy and paste the report logs from the scans into your next post.

Please post a fresh HijackThis log.

Tom
