System error?

Hello this is my first post here so excuse me if I break any forum rules. Also, I am no computer whiz so please bear with me.

I'm not sure whether I have a virus or not but whenever I open random files, a pop-up will occasionallly come out saying "System error! Your computer has been infected by an unknown trojan. It's dangerous for your system (critical files can be lost)! Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your system! (Recommended) "

Now I've ran my norton virus scan like 10 times already and yet no sign of infected area was reported. I'm very tempted to click okay but at the same time I'm sure i shouldn't. My computer is performing very well. It's just this System Error thing that keeps popping out. Is there any way of ridding it?

You have obviously been infected with adware, and if you click OK you will download a rouge antivirus software that ofcourse will tell you have a load of viruses and makes you pay for them to be deleted, even though you probably didn't have these viruses..... These types of software are tricky to remove. Remember keep norton up to date so it can recognise that file that is doing that as a virus.

Welcome BananaMaster You are correct with your above statement.
Keeping your AV up to date is a good thing of course, These rouges are spreading by the use of a bad ActiveX control. Once you agree to an ActiveX control you give the site 100% control to install any thing it wants right past your AV .

Also ofcourse to help your security don't use Internet Explorer, It lets people easily Explore your PC, Use browsers like Firefox, Opera as these have updates very regularly and have more security on them, and of course our open source.

Below are the logs for all of the reports when i followed the steps you suggested porthos. The only step i could not follow is the bitdefender one because it said that IE did not have the administrative setup or something and therefore could not be undergone. Other than that, it seems that the malware is gone since the pop up message has dissapperaed. THANK YOU

The only step i could not follow is the bitdefender one because it said that IE did not have the administrative setup or something and therefore could not be undergone.

To scan Vista with bitdefender

Right click your IE icon and choose "Run as Administrator" and go to the bitdefender online scan.

Two of them are orphand entry's. One is a trojan. that being the case
Delete everything inside this Temp folder:
C:\Users\JORDAN~1\AppData\Local\Temp

The way you choose to use your computer will infect you time and time again.

See here

Infected with: Trojan.MulDrop.JA

And programs such as BitComet

Lets take a closer look at you system.

Download Deckard's System Scanner. HERE

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, a text file will open - Main.txt
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of Main.txt in your thread here.
5. A folder, C:\Deckard, will also open. In it will be another text file, Extra.txt.
6. Attach Extra.txt to your post.

Note: some firewalls may warn that sigcheck.exe is trying to access the internet - please ensure that you allow sigcheck.exe permission to do so.

What Deckard's System Scanner will do:

* create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
* clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
* check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. Deckard's System Scanner automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

When you get the two notepad documents, click somewhere inside the notepad document and hold CTRL/Control and press A then C. This will "select all" and "copy" the text.

Please post both of the logs.
