Unsure what hijacker I have...

My Internet Explorer seems to be hijacked as the home page is diverted to a search site and my computer is running very slowly, but I can't tell what hijacker I have so I don't know how to fix the problem.

Hi brwsrhll,

First let's do some cleaning up:

Download Adaware from: http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

Run Adaware, click the "Check for Updates now" link. Install the latest reference file

Configure Adaware for a "Full Scan".
Click on the Gear at the top of the start screen.
Click the "Scanning" button.
Under Drives & Folders, select "Scan within Archives".
Click on"Click here to select Drives + folders" and select your hard drives.
Under Memory & Registry, select all options.
Click the "Advanced" button.
Under "Log-file detail", select all options.
Click the "Tweak" button.
Expand "Scanning Engine" by clicking on the "+" (Plus) symbol) and select the following:
Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile"
Unload recognized processes during scanning."
Under "Cleaning Engine", select the following:
"Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion."
"Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Click on "Proceed" to save these Preferences.
Click on the "Scan Now" button on the left.
Under "Select Scan Mode, be sure to select "Use Custom Scanning Options".
Select "Activate in-Depth scan".
Close all programs except ad-aware.
Click on "Next" in the bottom right corner to start the scan.
Remove all checked items.
If necessary, Adaware may prompt you to reboot to allow it to continue the removal process,


Download, install and UPDATE Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3. Scan and fix all items checked in RED.

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Open 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Select the 'My Search Bar' (MySearch variant), 'MyWay Speed Bar' (MyWay) or 'My Web Search Bar' (MyWeb) entry and click 'Remove'. For the MyWeb variant, be sure to also remove 'Fun Web Products Easy Installer'.

Logoff you internet connection. Please press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and open Task Manager. End the following process by selecting it and pressing the End Process button and clicking Yes to the confirmation message:

Please download Registrar Lite:

Run Registrar Lite and open this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows

DoubleClick and identify the file listed in AppInit_DLLs.

Create a new folder for backups somewhere: (e.g. My Documents\Backups)

Hilite the Windows key marked in purple, and use reglite's file menu>export, save in the following formats:
Name them as--

1.) Winkey.reg (Selected by defaults) (Save as type: regedit4 .reg type)
2.) Winkey.hiv (in Save as type: Scroll to select-regetd32/WinAPI *hiv *dat files)

When both files/backups are successfully saved, Rename the Windows key to Windows1, Clear the data in the AppInit value., Rename back to original , restart Preferably in Safe mode, find and delete the file.

--When done:
1.) Navigate to backups location, And DoubleClick on the winkey.reg file.
Answer yes to the prompt.
2.) Run reglite, open the same windows key:
While it's being selected/marked in purple, Use reglite's file menu>Import
Browse to and select the "winkey.hiv" saved.
Hit 'open' , merge and 'ok' it.

Repeat the cleanup steps outlined before in the AppInit value (clearing the data)
