Windows Movie Maker freezing every few minutes

Windows movie maker used to work fine for me. It rarely froze, now, however, it freezes every few minutes, or even every few seconds. I'm not sure as to why it freezes, or how to stop it, hense the forum post. I've used askjeeves.com and found numerous similar occasions, almost all occuring on windows xp, which is the version i use. Help would be appreciated.

i think this quite likely related ot the spate of infections you have on your system. I think these problems will cease after the system is cleaned up. Unless this problem is on a different machine altogether ?

A non malware related problem of this nature is probably due to low amounts of memory on your system. do you have several programs running in the background.. whats your system RAM size like ? AV programs tend to eat into system memory and resources so if you are offline and not on an intranet, then it should be safe for you to temp. disable the AV software while you work.

i try to keep the amount of programs i have running to a minimum, without disabling any of my protection. I don't work offline, so i can't temporarily disable them without the chance of infection. i was thinking this had something to do with the transponder.abetterinternet, but the recent anti-spyware programs i've run have deleted that problem, as far as i know. and yes, this is all on the same machine.
