Xp / IE Problem -Virus?

cleaned blaster out of my neighbors pc a few days ago and loaded all MS patches, updates, etc. Told her to run firewall but none the less..it's all bad. IE opens and homepage resolves but attempts to browse to ANY other site other than homepage results in IE shutting down completely. Norton virus scan shows nothing and blasterfix run off of CD does not help.
other than slow preformance nothing else seems to be effected.

Suggestions?

btw...great site !

If entries other than local host exist...just delete them?

You think it may have been "hijacked" as they say?

Hi derwood!

Please go to http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ and download HijackThis. If you are using Win9x you will need an unzip utility such as WinZip http://www.winzip.com/

Note: This is extremely important! Unzip HijackThis to a permanent folder, such as C:\HJT and run it from there. Once we begin fixing your problems, HijackThis will make important backups to that location, in case we need them.

Now run Hijack This. Press the Scan button. Then press the Save Log button and save a copy of the scan to C:\HJT. Notepad will pop-up with a copy of your log. Copy and paste this log to this forum (do not add it as an attachment).Do not fix anything yet.

Tom

And you might want to have a copy of WinSockFix handy as well; Adaware has been known to blow away WinSock files
