Apache 1.3.19 and DNS
Hi,
I've installed Apache 1.3.19 with a number of VrtualHosts on FreeBSD4.2 Stable on a NT LAN. I need to reach the sites by their DNS names on the LAN. How can I do that? At least, please give me a hint where I should search for the information... Thanks a lot, Kirill. |

It depends on how many local vhosts. For fewer than 20, just use /etc/hosts file and C:\WINNT\HOSTS. To test it, just ping the hostnames.

Thanks for the reply, but I know how to do it via the hosts file. But I'm looking for another solution...
Maybe, I can set up my named server? If so, do you know where to get info how to set up a named server for such purposes? I found a lot of docs on setting it up for the Internet, I tried for my LAN, but it does not work... Thanks, Kirill. |

This is not a helpful answer at all. What didn't work exactly? No error message? Since you haven't provided anything helpful for us to troubleshoot your real problem, maybe you should start here -> http://defcon1.erudition.net/ and do a search. |
