general - Apache 403 errors
Get a 403 error when I go to the index i.e / on my site doesn't suppose anyone has any ideas why?.
When I go to any other page that uses htaccess all is fine. Ta for any help or pointers. Richard |

You need to look for a <Directory /foo/bar> where /foo/bar matches your DocumentRoot and make sure you've set the Order, Allow, and Deny directives properly.
You should also check the value for DirectoryIndex to see that you have one of the listed files in your DocumentRoot. You'll get a 403 if you don't have a valid DirectoryIndex AND the Indexes Options has been turned off.
