    I am told by my software department that there is a module or patch that can run ASP using vbscript on apache.

    As far as i am aware ChilliSoft is the only way to use VBscript on Apache. There is an Apache:asp module but you have to use perl scripting as the host scripting language.

    Am i right in my assumptions

    Yup,
    Apache::ASP uses Perl.
    Chilisoft's version uses vbscript.

    Not sure if this helpful or not, but there's another company (besides ChiliSoft) that has a product which allows you to run ASP through Apache (on Linux):
