apache install problem

hi,

I have a problem with Apache 1.3.14. The thing is that after I've started the apache which btw goes fine, but when I start internet explorer and type in localhost, which I could on my older machine, he demands that I connect to the internet and if I say work offline it says that it can't display this page offline. I've gone through http.conf and found nothing of any use and even tried to copy http.conf on my old machine but no result

Anyone had the same problem

btw -> I.E. NEVER displayed an connect message

I assumed you are running Apache on Windows, which I can't help you with. What you can try is to create C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS file manually and put 127.0.0.1 localhost in it. In addition, make sure Apache is listening to localhost, check your ServerName in httpd.conf.
