Apache+Mod-ssl vs Apache-ssl
Greetings All,
I have a choice between using Apache with Mod-ssl or Apache-ssl with virtual hosting (to allow http and https access). Does anyone have any comments on this choice? Apache-ssl is easier to set up, but Apache and Mod-ssl seems more like "industry standard." Any comments welcome. Thanks, Zitan. |

I prefer mod_ssl simply because it's more flexible. In most case, Apache-SSL would be built statically (not as a share module). For performance wise, yes, it's more efficient technically. The down side is that you need to recompile it everytime you add/upgrade additional modules.
Should Apache-SSL be built as a share module using DSO method, it's just better off not to use it and go for mod_ssl instead. |
