Angry

hi,

i am xtremely new at apache. I am used to the graphical interface of iis and pws and i am using w2k pro which is connected to a nt4server. I don't have administrative priviliges on the nt4 server but i am an administrator on my w2k workstation.
the Apache server is installed on my workstation not the nt4 server

now my problem is:

- i've created an alias in the httpd.conf file like this:
Alias /webs "W:/PROJECTS"

the W drive is a networkdrive of a folder in the nt server which i have access to. When i'm testing this at: "http://myMachine/webs" i get this error message:
You don't have permission to access /webs on this server.

this could be because the nt server doesn't recognise me as the domain user when i try to access the folder through apache... so which user is apache? can anyone help me with this one?

-another problem is this:
i want to set some file types as default files. index.htm is opened automatically when i go to a folder containing this file. how can i add another default file like index.php in apache?

thnk you very much in advance for any help

max,

  • You should look at Apache config file (in Linux it's "httpd.conf"). There you can find whith user is Apache. Also you can look at Control Panel, Administration, Services.
  • in Apache config file find line like:
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.cgi
    and add index.php or smth.
