Having problems installing Apache under win2k. Service stops during startup. Is this a known issue and are there any workarounds

We don't have anyproblems with Apache on our W2000 machines.

Have you checked for errors in your httpd.conf file?
(from the Command window in the Apache directory run: apache -t)

Also, try running Apache from a command prompt to view errors. I am running Apache 1.3.14 and Tomcat 3.2 on Win2000 Pro, both as services, no issues. When running the latest Apache from the command prompt and it has trouble - it pauses for 30 sec or so and counts down until you read the message or it times out!

wheneve i install apache on win2k, i have to edit the httpd.conf before it works.

This is because the ServerName is commented out for some reason.

That could be your problem, just write ServerName localhost
