Angry Can see pages from home but not on Web

I have set up the Apache server and everything seems to be fine when running it at home. I can see all my pages. When i try to access it from another computer i get the message that the page cannot be found. I am sure that it will be to do with the way i have the HTTP.conf set up. I have my own domain name which is redirected to one of those free ISP's. Which DNS server do i need to put into Apache or do i need to put in my static IP address. I am very frustrated with all of this, or is it that i just willnot be able to do this.

Regards Phil

What happens when you put your ip in from remote machine and try to open some page? Its quite possible you firewall (if you have one) does not allow any connection on port 80, or may be your isp doesn't (not sure about that)

I do have a firewall installed, one is through Windows XP the other with software called Zonealarm. One other thing is should i put my own IP address as the server name within Apache or do i need to put in the DNS of my actual ISP??

I don't think it matters what you put as server name.
So have you fixed you problem with not being able to use apache remotely? If no, check settings for winxp firewall and click 'enable http server' (I think thats what its called). I don't know about zonealarm, but I would think its pretty simple to open some specific port.

I have enabled the HTTP Server in Win XP & disabled Zonealarm. I cannot tell if it works at the moment, unless you would like to check the link for me. My site is http://www.cre8ivewebs.co.uk/

The link to my own server is on the side menu at the bottom.

Thanks

Phil

If you still want to use ZoneAlarm then go to here.. http://www.zonelabs.com/services/su...rk.htm#4network , to learn how to open 80 port for allow people to viewable and access your 80 port. It works great!
