Connect apache webserver with domain name, not IP

    Hello all

Ive been setting up a virtual server where i want to host my website on (to practice).
Now i can connect the website with the client via the IP of the apache server. But i want to connect to it with a domain name
lets say www . domain . com

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

    thx in advance.

First, go register a domain. Once you've done that you'll need to point it at some DNS servers. If you do not have your own statically configured DNS servers there are companies out there that will offer this for you at a reasonable rate (some registrar's even over DNS services for free). Then create a DNS 'A' record for www pointing to the IP of your server.

If you have difficulties setting up DNS I'm sure I could squeeze another domain onto mine for you. Let me know.
