During the installing of apache what would be preferable:
use the option --with-layout=Apache 'or'
--with-layout=Redhat

It says in Redhat install that the 'datadir' should be /home/httpd
that means that files of apache will be scattered in two locations (or possibly more) 1. at /usr/local/apache (or whatever path you gave)
2. at /home/httpd
wouldnt this cause any problems (or otherwise what benefit would this option give ya)
And what bout the --with-layout=Apache, this will install all the files in your $prefix ie. say /usr/local/apache
If any of you'll have selected the 2nd option. (ie with the redhat layout) pls let me know. Also tell be what exactly would be the purpose to do so??

Well, i am curious over the install procedure as i am a newbie. (So i want to make sure my installation goes really perfect and fine.......

duke.

Check out <Layout Apache> and enter whatever paths you would like in your config.layout, then --with-layout=Apache

>>which 1 would be preferable

Within <Layout Apache> ... </Layout>
Edit the paths to wherever you like or use the default paths. Then specify --with-layout=Apache
