gif images don't show on web page
I'm new to all this.
I have tested some of my own web pages, but most of the gif files won't show up, but if I change them to jpg they do. Some very small like 4k gifs show up though. If apache can't display 98k gif files it seems pretty useless for people that use front page or other programs to submit there websites,so I must be missing some configuration problem. I could not find any info anywhere on this. These web pages work fine on some free web sites with no frontpage extensions so is it an apache config problem. Any ideas Thanks testing apache on a windows 98 system |

like I said I'm new at this so all I did was load the gif files into painshop and then save them where the gif files were except I save as jpg then edit the page with the new jpg picture and save it and they show up. So I'm not moving locations or anything. Maybe it's just something front page 2000 does. But I was going to host some sites for friends and that is the program they use. They don't use the forms or anything that needs the front page extensions though, because I told them I don't know how to get that to install and work.

I use frontpage 2002 once in a while and I have no problems. Try creating an images folder under Apache/htdocs and put your images under there. htdocs is the default webroot where you put all your files to be accessible to the web.

Thanks for your replys. After reading the forum for awhile I realized I was using the new 2-beta for windows.
I started over with the 1.3 one and set it up and all works great now. even my hover buttons that were made in front page. If it works don't fix it so I'm going to use version 1.3 and start learning more. Thanks again! |
