gzip on HostPro

I just switched to a HostPro Freedom 500x but unfortunately, it does not come pre-compiled with gzip.

Tech Support told me that I can do my own custom install if I would like but they would not support it. I have never done something like this before so I was wondering if anyone has got it to work on a HostPro system and if so, are there any instructions out there that a newbie can understand?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks.
