Apparently the true reason for Skype listening to ports 80 and 443 has nothing to do with defeating firewalls but with a special network design of the Skype network which makes use of Supernodes. It appears that by allowing Skype to listen on both of those ports the user is voluntarily allowing the Skype network to potentially use his computer as a Supernode. If the user is not willing to lend his computer for these purposes he or she can easily switch off this functionality.

As for the Skype's legendary penetration abilities it seems that a custom RPC over HTTP protocol is responsible for it.

Hey everybody, I am back.

I am trying to open the command line utility to install mod_php and an h.264 streaming component. Cmd just flashes and then goes off. I tried to open httpd.exe and it flashes the cmd. I had to use recording software to read what it says. It basically said something was on port 80. Skype is no longer running. Also, what is httpd.exe? I had apache service monitor running and apache2.2 service running, so are they different or what? Also is mod_php all I need to do use php scripts? What is pear, is that something I need to host php scripts? And lastly, what is PHP used for. So many applications.

Nvm, I am using xampp now, so it does everything for me which is nice.

-Thanks for all your help.
