I have installed a RH 7.1 with apache and mysql

with ip 192.168.1.60 and alter the servername.

ps aux | grep httpd is ok but url of in wind 98 se, I type in 192.168.1.60. I have nothing.

I have host declared.


why is that ????

Are they on the same network? 192.x.x.x is a loopback address like 127.0.0.1, so if you try to access a 192.x.x.x address from a machine not on the network, it won't work. Chances are it probably won't work over the network anyway.

do the same thing over in seawolf, I just donot understand why it is!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem. I solved it by creating a file called HOST with no extension in c:\windows using notepad and the file just contained the line

192.168.1.60

After a restart it worked fine.

at my office, I have installed linux 6.0 linux 7.0 and I now have little trouble with seawolf.

I knew about that file.

I have tried
/sbin/ipchains -L

while in setup I have disable the ipchains service.

ipchains does not compatiable with the kernel.

I installed "everything' as server in my 40 G seagate.

after I have built the RH 7.1, I can't use httpd,telnet,ftp



in I issued /etc/rc.d/init.d/ipchains stop


ipchains -F
flushed the firewall and restart the machine and flushes again,
I still can't telnet, ftp or httpd( apache) into seawolf.

-then I go to /var/log/

secure---- listen 0.0.0.0 port 22.
