    Assuming you have already installed Apache as above.

    Download the FP 2002 and the installation script from http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport/fp2002_sr1.1.htm if you did not already do so.

    Continue as follows

    Open the file /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf and set AllowOverride to "All" in place on "None"

    change the user nobody and Group -1 in the httpd.conf file to the User name and Group you wish to use

    Set the rights of /var/log/httpd to 755 (chmod 755 /var/log/httpd)
    Open the file /var/www/error/ HTTP_UNAUTHORIZED.html.var and add the text below. (This may also possibly be in /wwwroot/error)

    Content-language: en
    Content-type: application/x-httpd-cgi
    Body:----------en--
    <!--#set var="TITLE" value="Authentication required!" -->
    <!--#include virtual="include/top.html" -->

    This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL "<!--#echo encoding="url" var="REDIRECT_URL" -->". You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

    <!--#include virtual="include/spacer.html" -->

    In case you are allowed to request the document, please check your user-id and password and try again.

    <!--#include virtual="include/bottom.html" -->
    ----------en--

    Run script from the untared tarball
    fp_install.sh

    Give Usernames when prompted in scripts

    I have a gentoo box with apache 2.0.49. Had to manually fix some of the entries on the script to fix gentoo file names, but the script stops at compile time giving me this error:

    Using the Apache apxs utility to build mod_frontpage.so
    /usr/lib/apache2/build/libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc -prefer-pic -O2 -pipe -march=pentium2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fstack-protector -DAP_HAVE_DESIGNATED_INITIALIZER -DLINUX=2 -D_REENTRANT -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -pthread -I/usr/include/apache2 -I/usr/include/apache2 -I/usr/include/apache2 -Dlinux -c -o /usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/apache2/mod_frontpage.lo /usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/apache2/mod_frontpage.c && touch /usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/apache2/mod_frontpage.slo
    mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/apache2/.libs': No such file or directory
    apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
    .
    ERROR: Unable to install mod_frontpage dso

    Exiting due to an error! Please fix the error and try again.

    After inspecting the frontpage directory as expanded by the install script, there is no apache2 directory under version5.0 dir.

    I made a mistake and use the incorrect packagage, and that gave me the previous error message. Now the extensions are installed. Even while the page appear with the frontpage counter, that counter do not increment, and IE do not allow me to edit with frontpage the page. So I suppose something goes wrong. I have only tried with the root page. Haven't try virtual domains yet.
